Annapurna Sanctuary trek is a legendary trek and is also regarded as one of the most popular treks in Nepal. This classic and spectacular journey will take you to the South face of Annapurna I also visiting the vantage point- Poon Hill, to view the breathtaking sunrise.
This 14 day trek that leads to the Annapurna Sanctuary commences arriving in Kathmandu spending a night before heading to Pokhara. In Kathmandu, if time permits, you can visit on your own some of the historically iconic landmarks listed in the World Heritage Sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square also known as Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square locally, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa and Boudhanath Stupa these places are worth the visit. A cultural discovery of Kathmandu before starting your trek to the Annapurna Sanctuary and Poon Hill.

After landing in Kathmandu at the airport look out for your name held up on a placard at the arrival gates. Our cheerful representative from Wind Horse Adventures will then promptly escort you to the hotel. We are sure that a brief walk around the city will surely amaze you, and observe how Kathmandu embraces you with contemporary living combined with a traditional touch. Later, in the afternoon there will be pre-trip discussion on the trek in our office where you can meet your group, trek leader and the other members. You'd be able to ask questions to your trek leader and the management and also prepare for the trek. Have a sound sleep and relax, the adventure begins tomorrow. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Following breakfast, our adventure begins with a scenic drive to Pokhara offering views of rivers, terrace fields and captivating view of the Annapurna range as you near the city- scenic lake city. Feel free to take a stroll through the city in the evening or relax by the lakeside. Overnight in Pokhara.
Altitude: 2050 m/6725ft | Trek 6-7 hrs
The day starts with a hearty breakfast, time to fill up yourself with energy for the trek ahead. Following breakfast you'll be driving to Nayapul to commence the trek. For the first thirty minutes, walking along the banks of the Modi River through sub-tropical valley forest you reach Birethanti. Here we would stop for lunch. Thereafter, taking a left turn from the village you’d cross the Modi Khola (river) via a bridge towards Ulleri passing by Hile and the village of Tikhedhunga. The trek to Ulleri makes you climb the arduous 3200 stone steps upward, make sure you have the stamina for it. Finally, after this climb it’s time to unwind once you reach Ulleri. Overnight in Ulleri.
Altitude: 2,750m/9020ft | Trek 4-5 hrs
Today, we trek uphill to the Ghorepani village passing through rhododendron forest; it’s beautiful in spring to see the flowers bloom. This village is definitely an important place to stop during the trek with many good lodges to halt for the night; the place even has gained popularity where one can buy local products and crafts. After the day’s walk we spend the night in Ghorepani in the upper part of the village from where you can enjoy, if the weather permits, lovely views of Annapurna South and Niligiri mountains. Of course, upon reaching Ghorepani you can start feeling chilly in the mornings and evenings. Overnight in Ghorepani.
Altitude: 2,700m/8,860 ft | Trek 7-8 hrs
You are in Ghorepani and don’t forget to be up with the lark to trek to Poon Hill (3,210 m/10,529ft). From this view point the sunrise over the Himalayas is just too breathtaking and certainly worth the early morning rise. Hence, the Poon Hill trek has gained so much of popularity in the Annapurna region. So, one cannot afford to miss the stunning views of the snow-capped peaks of those majestic mountains that ‘s worth capturing in your cameras. After spending the early hours in Poon Hill it’s time warm up your bodies drinking some coffee, tea or hot chocolate before going back to Ghorepani. Here you’ll have your breakfast waiting; finish your morning meal there is a ridge you’d have to climb trekking in the eastern direction. It’s time to trek downhill through rhododendron forests and en route you can get see some spectacular waterfalls before you reach Tadapani,, where you’d be halting for the night.
Altitude: 2170m/7120ft | Trek 5-6 hrs
On this day be prepared to trek downhill from Tadapani, you’ll be encountering trail that is steep trekking through dense rhododendron forest. Then, the trail takes you to terraced fields that are well cared and tidy. Next, there is a suspension bridge to cross before which you need to trek uphill steadily and pass by few cascading waterfalls. Walking uphill and downhill passing through amazing places your place for the night,Chhomrong, is reached. You can certainly see how beautiful is the village so up close to the giant Annapurna massif. Overnight in Chhomrong.
Altitude: 2310m/7578ft | Trek 5-6 hrs
By now you must have become used to walking downhill; this day also involves similar walking having to walk down on 2500 stone steps, then crossing the swaying suspension over the Chhomrong River. Then you’d trek uphill to Sinuwa, and the trail traverses a beautiful forest to Kuldihar, followed by an easy downhill walk to Bamboo. Overnight in Bamboo.
Altitude: 3230m/10,595ft | Trek 4-5 hrs
Following breakfast, it is time to traverse the bamboo forest here you are hid from the sun most of the time; the area is damp and cold. The day has some steady climb sections that are steep; make sure you are wearing sturdy pair of trekking boots. Once you have reached the Himalaya Hotel you can find yourself bathing in the sun again. There are amazing views you don’t want to miss like the remarkable view of the glacial river while trekking. After a steep climb you’d reach the Hinku Cave trekking through a drier forest. The trail here goes down close to the river and climbs to Deurali offering scenic view of the mountains getting closer. You’d be entering in the valley, that’s just too astounding with less vegetation with rock cliffs so steep above with cascading, silvery waterfalls. Overnight in Deurali.
Altitude - Annapurna Base Camp: 4,130m/13,545ft , Machhapuchhre Base Camp: 3700m/12135ft | Trek 5-6 hrs
Today is the main day, so get ready for the exhilarating experience to reach the Annapurna Base Camp. The trail goes up a river bed then it steepens against the cliffs. Following a short trek you’ll reach Bagar. Now, be prepared for a bit arduous trek to Machhapuchhre Base Camp- a real test for your legs. The views from Machhapuchhre Base Camp will leave you stunned the highlight being the grand, untouched Machhapuchhre with other peaks like Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna you cannot miss those views at all. As we approach the Annapurna we traverse alpine meadows and later the trail gently climbing up. The vegetation becomes sparse en route to Annapurna Base Camp with trail really wide when entering the Annapurna sanctuary. This is where the view of south face of Annapurna appears really up close which makes this trek one of the scenic experience. The are other mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna south, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks from the Annapurna Base Camp. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.
Altitude: 2310m/7578ft | Trek: 7-8 hrs
It’s our day to trek back to Bamboo. Watch out! It’s time to challenge if your knees are shaky while trekking downhill to Dovan though it’s less strenuous. Then, trek uphill to reach Bamboo. Enjoy the beautiful, picturesque landscape which can indeed make you forget your tiredness. You’d spend the night in Bamboo. Overnight in Bamboo.
Altitude: 1760m/5770ft | Trek: 5-6 hrs
After breakfast, be prepared to trek uphill traversing rhododendron, oak and bamboo forests. From Bamboo, you’d reach Kuldighar trekking uphill followed by trekking to Chhomrong River downhill. Here again there is the climb going up the stone stairs to Chhomrong. Then you’d reach Jhinu Danda descending downhill, this where you’d be staying for the night. Of course, you if want to relax your tired muscles there are hot springs in the proximity of Jhinu Danda that indeed would be therapeutic. Overnight in Jhinu Dada.
Altitude: 827m/2712ft | Drive 1hr| Trek 5-6 hrs
So it’s time to trek back to Naya Pul from Jhinu danda, so you’d be trekking downhill and then the trail flattens till you’d reach Birethanti; the landscape is worth enjoying. The trek ends at Naya Pul where our vehicle would be waiting for you to drive back to Pokhara. Pamper yourself after the trek, spend leisurely by the lakeside and unwind but if still energetic there are shops to buy souvenirs to take back home. Overnight in Pokhara.
Altitude: 1300m/4,264ft | Drive 6-7 hrs
Following an early breakfast, get ready to drive back to Kathmandu on a tourist bus. Enjoy the drive which is indeed fantastic passing by beautiful Nepalese countryside of little towns, river and villages. Once you reach Kathmandu, check in at your hotel. Free to explore on your own, indulge in some last minute shopping or visit some UNESCO Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley. It’s time to get triumphant of your journey, so a farewell dinner in the evening will be arranged for you. Overnight in Kathmandu.
