Trek up to 3210 meters to “Poon Hill” face the stunning Annapurna Range, intertwine with nature on a jungle safari in Chitwan and wander along the vibrant city streets of Kathmandu. Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu, short walking tour, welcome dinner

As you make your way out of the arrival gates, look out for a cheerful face of our Wind Horse representative holding a placard, with your name on it. He will drop you to the hotel. Rest awhile to shake off that jetlag! Stroll around the vicinity and acquaint yourself to the city, the vibrant marketplaces and the colorful ambience of the surroundings will definitely spellbind you. It may seem chaotic at first, but eventually you will give in to the city’s charisma. A welcome dinner is prepared for you to sample authentic Nepalese dishes, have a good time! Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02 : Sightseeing in Kathmandu city

Wake up to a brand new day! Past the cobblestone walkways, tread to the “Kathmandu Durbar Square,” better known as “Hanuman Dhoka” just around the stretch. The convoluted carvings on the temples in wood and stone are amazing! The “Kumari Ghar” houses the living goddess “Kumari,” she is believed to be pure in body and soul, take a bow. The old “Freak Street” at Jhonchhe Tole, was a mecca for the hippie culture in the 1960’s. Peek into Nepal’s historical facts at the National Museum nearby. The mischievous primates that crowd the 365 steps to the “Swayambhunath,” Stupa, are amusing. Referred to as the “Monkey Temple,” the stupa sits atop a hill and offers a breathtaking view of the city below. The red caped monks will bless you with peace.

Try “Momo’s” for lunch. (Momo’s: Dumplings, Meat filled delights)

On the other side of town a long line of Hindu devotees throng the premises at the “Pashupatinath” Temple, join the crowd. The Holy men of the temple “Babaji’s” watch you with intent eyes! A short drive takes you to “Boudhanath,” one of the largest Buddhist stupa in the world. All this is in a day and you would still be left craving for more. These historical and religious structures are listed as UNESCO heritage sites. Ease back and enjoy a Nepalese dinner! Head out to “Thamel” area and meet people from different parts of the globe. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03 : Flight to Pokhara, transfer to Hile 2.5 hrs drive, trek to Ulleri (2050 m/6725 ft) 2-3 hrs

Fly above the clouds from Kathmandu to Pokhara, the City of Lakes. Look out for our cheerful representative at the airport. Take a breather! Soon you will be ushered off to a 55 kms adventure ride to Hile, a small hilly town. Prepare to hike up to Ulleri a literally vertical town perched atop a hillside at 2050 meters, where you can accommodate for the night. It is a good point to view “Annapurna South” and “Hinchuli” peaks. Enjoy the lush green natural vegetation there, sight for sore eyes. Overnight in Ulleri.

Day 04 : Trek to Ghorepani (2,750 m/ 9,020 ft): 4-5 hours trek

Indulge in a heavy breakfast, the trek ahead will surely burn off more calories than you can imagine. The trail to Ghorepani, takes you through lush green vegetated forests and as you enter the Rhododendron Forest of the Conservation Area, you will be delighted to see whole trees covered in big bright blossoms. The huge trees with their gnarled trunks are covered with bright green moss. With these in the foreground and the Himalayas in the background, you will exhaust you camera batteries in no time. Retire for the night in one of the many tea-houses there, it offers a personal experience. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 05 : Ascend Poon Hill (3,210m/10,529ft), trek to Hile, transfer to Pokhara: 8-9 hrs trek

The romantic sunrise at “Poon Hill” induces a sense of absolute fulfillment; you must share the view with a loved one. It is a popular trekking destination that lets you ascend 3210 meters, while you are up there marvel at the stunning view of several beautiful mountains in the vicinity. Whip out your cameras to capture the entire Annapurana Range, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, Hiunchuli and the Tukuche Peak, if you can fit them in your viewfinder. The gentle breeze blowing across the sparse flora of the hill makes you forget yourself as you feel the heaviness in your heart to leave it all behind.  As you backtrack and descend, it is important to know that this trek is also culturally important, the trail passes through several villages inhabited by ethnic Nepalese groups of people comprising of “Gurungs,” “Magars” and “Chhetris”. Experience first-hand insights on their lives and be a part of the community, at least for a while.

The lush green vegetation enchants you as you are driven all the way down to Pokhara city, while you are there just kick back and relax or hit the streets leading to the lakeside area. Have a drink! You have a lot to discover in Pokhara “The City of Lakes.” Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 06 : Pokhara sightseeing

As the first orange rays of the sun crawls atop the surrounding hills, The City of Lakes “Pokhara” gets flooded with an orange hue; you will be at loss of words to describe it. The reflection of the sun and the blue sky on placid Phewa Lake with the serene “Fishtail” mountain in the backdrop is a view to die for.

Try boating, bird watching, kayaking, swimming, canoeing they will keep you amused throughout the day. Jump in one of the colorful boats and paddle up to seek blessings from the “Varahi” temple in the middle of the lake. You will be left wondering, where all the water flows to at “Patale Changgo” or Davis falls, an underground waterfall.

Take a step back in time at the Old Bazaar, a vibrant ethnic marketplace, just about 4kms from Lakeside. A “Bindyabasini” Temple dedicated to goddess “Durga” the deity of supreme power right in the center of the bazaar, the 16th century architecture is sure to delight you.

When Nichidatsu Fujii a Japanese Buddhist monk laid the foundation of World Peace Pagoda or “Shanti Stupa,” he did it for absolute world peace, you can sense his purpose, when you climb up the marble steps of the stupa. Take pictures at the traveling monks from various parts of the globe! Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 07 : Transfer to Chitwan, elephant ride in the National Park: 4-5 hrs drive

The day sees you leaving Pokhara, for Chitwan! It’s a 2.5 hours drive that takes you through some of the most enchanting landscapes to capture moments of amazing wildlife and be a part of the tribal “Tharu” community, the national park, is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Excitement takes over fatigue, when you scramble to climb onto the elephant’s back, the ride takes you closer to the animals in the wild with the lush canopies above your head, and the anxiety of spotting the famous one horned rhino is overwhelming!

The jungle lodge offers a cozy spot to sit back and relax; the mystical sound of the forest lets your thoughts wander off into oblivion. Overnight at lodge in Chitwan:

Day 08 : Gharial Spotting, Canoeing, jeep ride to crocodile farm.

After a hearty breakfast, usher yourself off to the elephant stables, you can even give them a bath in the river, it optional though. In the afternoon a walk through the jungle will take you to the banks of “Rapti” river, spot various aquatic life while canoeing through the calm waters, the Gharial (alligator) and the Mugger crocodiles.

A lunch break inside the park will provide you with a sweet break from your walk. Thereafter, join us on an adventure jeep drive through the jungle, try bird watching it will slowly turn into an obsession. The last drive will take you to the Gharial farm; feel the responsibility of saving these creatures from total extinction.

Try some of the authentic tastes of ethnic cuisines in Chitwan, it will be a break from you regular staple. The cool night air of the jungle nearby, will gently lull you to a deep slumber. Overnight in Chitwan.

Day 09 : Transfer to Kathmandu via Manakamana Temple: 4-5 hrs drive

The journey back to Kathmandu will be like no other. The highway back offers the scene of lush green paddy fields, eventually giving way to protruding hillsides and snaking bends, with the river running beside you. Halfway through our journey to Kathmandu, we will stop at Manakamana Temple gates. The temple is located on a ridge 1302 meters above; it is accessible via cable cars.  Dedicated to Goddess Manakamana, it is believed that she fulfills wishes, what would you wish for?

Back in Kathmandu relieve your tiredness, dress up casually as you take a walk through one of the popular tourist spots in the city. Thamel is always abuzz, with faces from different parts of the globe, all congregating for the purpose of experiencing the Himalayan spirit. Be a part of the crowd, the music the culture and the local brew you will sure get a hang of Nepal. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 10 : Farewell Kathmandu

Accommodation

Whilst the travel the accommodation will be on twin share basis using standard hotel in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and local tea houses whilst the trek. You will be staying 3 nights at Aryatara Kathmandu Hotel in Kathmandu, 2 nights at Hotel Crystal in Pokhara, 2 nights at local, standard tea houses on trek and 2 nights at Hotel Parkland in Chitwan. Single supplement will be provided on request which will be additional USD 155.

Meals

Breakfast will be served in Kathmandu and Pokhara. All meals will be served whilst the trek and in Chitwan. There will also be a Welcome Nepalese, Traditional Dinner hosted by Wind Horse Adventures.
